Sulistiyanto, Managing Director of Sinar Mas, during the fundraising event “ Indonesian Badminton Care about Palu and Donggala” iniated by Indonesian badminton athletes at the Grand Indonesia Mall, Jakarta Central. “Badminton is an unifying tool and at the same time as a stage to promote Indonesia. The athletes concerns and cares toward the victimes of the natural disaster in Central Sulawesi is their way of returning and appreciating the nations support given to them. We of course support this initiatives,” he said.
National badminton players exhibition game
Sinar Mas through its Eka Tjipta Foundation (ETF) support this badminton exhibition fundraising event together with an auction of rackets and t-shirts belonging to the athletes of the Komunitas Bulutangkis Indonesia (The Indonesian Badminton Community) or KBI in cooperation with Buddha Tzu Chi Indonesia Foundation. “Because it is in line with what we have been doing all this time,” said Sulistiyanto who is also the Vice Chairman of ETF.

National badminton athletes who were present during the event are Jonatan Christie, Anthony Sinisuka Ginting, Kevin Sanjaya Sukamulyo, Marcus Femaldi Gideon, Liliana Natsir and Greysia Polii with legends such as Christian Hadinata, Hariyanto Arbi, Lius Pongoh and others. Also supporting the event The Jakarta Head of Police, Idham Aziz, the Mayor of Palu, Hidayat and several celebrities such as Inul Daratista, Olga Lydia, Abdee Slank and several national business person.

More than two billions Rupiah was raised during the event and will be used to build a badminton arena in Palu and Donggala. The Chairman of KBI, Hariyanto Arbi is targeting to build more than one badminton arena. “In the hope that in the future these arenas will produce talented athletes from Palu and its surroundings,” added Hariyanto.
Previously, a Memo of Understanding was signed between Buddha Tzu Chi Indonesia Foundation, ETF and other companies that share the same concerns as ETF with the Army Force of Indonesia to support the restoration process in Central Sulawesi and West Nusa Tenggara through the construction of 3.000 houses including the infrastructure needed such as clinics, houses of worship and schools for the communities.
